Our STORY

Basilic Fly Studio (BFS) took flight through the vision of its founder, Balakrishnan, and a small, dedicated team.

Recognizing the rising demand for cost-efficient VFX services in 2011, we saw an opportunity to fill the gap in the Indian market. With limited high-quality VFX shops available, we aimed to establish ourselves as a reputable brand in the industry. Starting with a modest team of 5-6 handpicked professionals from renowned VFX studios, BFS laid a strong foundation for growth and talent development.

Despite the challenges faced as a bootstrapped organization in a time-sensitive industry, we embraced complexity and expanded its capabilities. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted the seamless transition to remote operations, increasing the team from 150 to 400+ members to handle the surge in workload. Today, BFS has evolved into a sizable organization with offices in Chennai, Pune, London, and Vancouver. These international offices provide clients with local points of contact, enhancing service quality and query resolution.

Our aspirations extend to becoming a strong contender among mid-sized companies in the US and the UK, capitalizing on India’s talent and cost advantages. We plan to establish small teams in London and Vancouver to cater to on-set requirements, while the majority of work will be handled by the Indian team, ensuring operational efficiency and sustainability for clients.
